leela_cat | Dec. 14th, 2009 07:00 pm Hanukah - Day 4 - Original Fiction (Lonely Doesn't Always Mean Alone) For the fourth day, one of my original short stories.
This was my first published short story. It's in Hot & Bothered 2, edited by Karen X Tulchinsky, which is an anthology of lesbian erotica short-shorts (limit of 1,000 words). Somewhere in a box is a tape of me at the book launch in Vancouver, reading to an audience for the very first time. I was absolutely terrified.
The rights to the story reverted to me along time ago, and I don't have any intention of trying to submit it anywhere else. So, here's a little shot of lesbian erotica to cheer up your Monday.
Title: Lonely Doesn't Always Mean Alone Author: Leela ( leela_cat) Rating: NC-17 Word Count: ~990

leela_cat | Dec. 13th, 2009 05:45 pm Hanukah - Day 3 - For Your Sweet Tooth For the third day, some of my favourite dessert recipes. I don't bake very much these days (or at all), but these are recipes that I've made many times over the years.
All but one of these recipes came from family and friends and are handwritten on yellowed, stained, and bent recipe cards that I've owned for a long time.

leela_cat | Dec. 11th, 2009 03:09 pm Hanukah - Day 1 - Food for the Soul Some Hanukah recipes, courtesy of a little booklet of recipe cards filled with old home recipes that I inherited from my mother-in-law. The booklet was created to raise money for the building fund of the Jewish fellowship in the town where they lived. All of the recipes are family favourites from those who contributed; some of them have been cooked by family members for generations.
None of these recipes are healthy, but they're all traditional Hanukah recipes.
( Potato Latkes (apple sauce and sour cream not included) )
*^*^* ( Rhubarb Latkes (Pancakes from the Warsaw Ghetto) )

leela_cat | Dec. 11th, 2009 11:17 am Hanukah - lights and friends For those of you who don't know, Hanukah starts tonight. For the eight days of the festival, I plan to post small things - virtual gifts - that you are free to take for yourselves and use as you wish.
Each night for the eight days, I'll be posting some recipes, possibly some icons, and at least one fanfic story (HP gen) on the theme of Hanukah.
Happy Hanukah. And for those of you who light candles, enjoy the flames and the warmth of friends, family, and the possibility of miracles. 3 comments - Leave a comment

leela_cat | Dec. 10th, 2009 07:46 am One of those pictures that strikes a chord I was looking through the photographs on my computer and found this one. I was sitting on a bench on the Canadian side of the US/Canada border with my grandmother when it was taken.
Separation and connections of this kind, created by others, have impacted so much of my life that it seemed like a thing to share this morning.
For no particular reason, except that I wanted to share something.

leela_cat | Dec. 8th, 2009 07:30 am Brrr.... The cars outside are iced over, and I'm feeling the distinct lack of an ice scraper this morning.
On very very rare occasions, I've needed one before. Not needing one is one of the distinct pleasures of living here, after all.
Damn. It's going to be a 'warm up the car before driving to work' morning. And I really really haven't missed those in the years since I moved here from places north.
Oh, and can someone tell my giggling, laughing, finger-pointing inner Canadian to STFU. 2 comments - Leave a comment
